In 2008, School launched a consecutive MPHIL-PhD degree program, and from 2012, the School started to enroll students into four first-level disciplines of Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics and Statistics, as well as into two specializations of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Operational Research and Cybernetics.

This program is dedicated to cultivating potential scholars who are equipped with international perspectives and China insights. After graduation, the PhD students are intended to become research scholars to work at top Chinese universities, academic institutes, governmental think-tanks, and research units affiliated with leading enterprises in various industries.

The program is delivered by an internationalized faculty team, with several globally well-known scholars joining to teach the program.

The students have to study the program for 5 to 6 years. During first 3 semesters, the students learn fundamental courses and lay a solid research foundation. In the fourth semester, the students have to sit qualification exams for an entry into PhD-level study. Once into PhD-level study, the students will focus on research and write PhD theses, supervised by professors and a specialized guidance team. If they fail the qualification exams, the students will have to retake related courses and sit for the qualification exams the next year. If successful, they will be granted an entry into PhD-level study; if not, they will have to graduate with a Master’s degree. It takes 4 years for a student to receive a Master’s degree.

During the program period, the School will offer financial assistance and annual scholarships to the students, in addition to the stipends provided by the government. The students have easy access to Asia’s first-class library and advanced data resources. Meanwhile, research centers and laboratories in the School provide professional hardware and software resources for the students.

The students are also provided with a lot of opportunities to participate in various academic lectures, research projects and international exchanges. The students have opportunities to stay half to one year in overseas business schools in the 3rd and 4th years of the program for research and study purposes.
