2017 Summer Programs | Diversity Incubates Innovation

This summer, Fudan MBA introduced four summer programs for our MBA students, including Leadership and Strategy Program at Yale, the Strategic Mindset and Innovation in Israel, Global Perspective and Strategic Vision in Singapore, and Entrepreneurship for MBAs in Germany. Each program offers lectures and plenty of other activities including cultural tours, local companies visit to make this summer the most unforgettable one for Fudan MBA students.

As one of the key aspect of Fudan MBA education,‘Global Perspective’has been an anchor in upholding the "Young Elite, Future Leader" concept of the program. Each year over 300 Fudan MBA students are offered the opportunities to study at 90+ first class business schools around the world.

This summer, 40 Fudan MBA students paid a 9-day visit to Israel to participate in the Israel Strategic Mindset and Innovation Program jointly run by Fudan and Tel Aviv University.

This year’s program consisted of informative courses and lectures, visits to local companies, and cultural tours. Through the events, the students obtained a more thorough understanding of the country with the reputation of the ‘Silicon Valley’in Middle East.

Lectures from TAU professors covered the nation’s several-thousand-year of historic and cultural development, indicating the origins of Israel’s tradition of innovation.

The students also visited some local companies, including Stratasys, a start-up company focusing on 3D printing technology; Netafim, a tech company that developed an advanced irrigation system, among others.

The local entrepreneurs’ stories and experience have inspired the students a lot. Let’s hear what they’ve learned and gained from this valuable journey.

Group 1 (Mei Li, Meiling Liu, Mijin Yim, Zhihao Shen, Rongrong Yang, Peijie Guo, Zheyi Chen):

Diverse culture, direct expression, andbold act…all these distinct cultural traits have given birth to the nation’s innovative spirit and tradition.

Group 2 (Meng Jin, Wenqian Liang, Xiaofang Yin, Xinyi Wu, Hongyi Yuan, Junwen Gao, Yedan Yang):

The enterpreneur spirit that is prevailing in Isreali society has greatly impressed us. Many of the enterpreneurs have mentioned something in common, which is, their parents always encourage them to be whom they want to be. Everyone has the aspiration to be someone and to do something with difference. The desire could make through the darkness and become the light on one’s path to success.

Group 3( Jiaqi Pu, Jinjing Yu, Jing Shi, Hua Gao, Jiawang Huang, Xinying Wang, Jing Liu)

From this trip, we learnt a lot about the history of Israel, the Jewish way of thinking, and the drive for innovation, and many more. We’ll visit Israel again and hopefully will learn more about the country.

Group 4 (Ting Tang, Guangyao Li, Lihua Gu, Jing Li, Yukai Hu, Pengfei Li)

Putting what you learn into practice is the core value of learning. The trip included a number of courses and lectures that would be greatly helpful to our academic performance in school and career development in the future.

Group 5 (Tongliang Guan, Sagar Chaudhary, Ming Li, Yingjie Meng, Chen Xu, Qi Wang):

The trip has greatly broadened our horizon. It’s definitely a treasure to all of us. To study the drive of innovation and to participate in constructing a sustainably developing world is also a responsibility for us as Fudan MBA students.

Group 6 (Dan Song, Aniket Jindal, Jingyu Bai, Chao Shi, Li Yu, Li Zhai, Liping Liu)

Man who travels far knows more, says an old Chinese saying. The Israeli trip is one of the most splendid part of the MBA study at Fudan. From this point, we begin to reconsider our responsibilities while setting on a new journey.

Professor Jinyun Sun from Fudan School of Management took part in last year’s exchange program to Israel. He refined on the trip his previous understanding of Israeli culture, especially the country’s tradition of innovation. He believes,  besides the sense of crisis, and great emphasis on public education, diversity has become a mindset that works in social development as well as company management, which has greatly pushed the advancement of the society and its economy.
