Breaking Down Barriers to Career Development from the Fudan MBA

3 Fudan MBA students in the automobile manufacturing industry from the Class of 2023 recalled their journey of growth during the past three years of study.

During his years as a Fudan MBA student, Zhan Ganlin changed his job, and then switched his function in the new company from a member in the R&D department to a product manager. “Insights from the professors and communications from my elite classmates all largely broadened my horizons, which gave me the confidence and the competence to realise my career transition, ” said Zhan.

Qiu Chun had been working in one of the world’s top 500 auto parts companies for over ten years. Studying in the Fudan MBA Program made her feel like a plant in the summer, who had been granted a wonderful opportunity of growing together with a group of kindred spirits. During these years, Qiu also begun to change her career path from working in a foreign company to a Chinese private company, shifting her focus to developing features of intelligence in the vehicle.

In the second year of his studies at the Fudan MBA Program, Ma Yong transformed from a traditional auto parts manufacturer to one of the new automakers. “Courses like Organizational Behavior opened my eyes to how the structures of companies are diverse and constantly evolving, and how out-dated the general management and the talent development philosophy were in my previous company,” recalled Ma. “I was putting my energy and talent into repeating rather than developing new technologies and innovating, which was extremely unsettling for me in this fast-changing era.” He expressed his gratitude for the Fudan MBA Program to have exposed him to nearly all aspects of the business world, allowing him to better understand the logic behind many of his company’s decisions, as well as to make wiser choices about his career and his life.
