BI ranks third of Nordic institutions on Financial Times ranking

BI Norwegian School of Management climbs seven spots on the Financial Times’ ranking of customized executive education programmes in 2009.
This year, BI Norwegian School of Management ranks No. 58 among the world’s universities and colleges – up seven spots from last year, and as No. 26 among European universities and colleges that develop and offer customized executive education programmes to businesses.
“The ranking shows that BI Norwegian School of Management’s focus on the international business market is a success. BI Norwegian School of Management is now ranked No. 26 among European business schools and third among the Nordic business schools, topped only by Stockholm School of Economics and Helsinki School of Economics,” says Tom Colbjørnsen, President of BI Norwegian School of Management
“My vision for BI Norwegian School of Management is that we will be among the leading business schools in Europe. This ranking shows we are headed in the right direction,” says Tom Colbjørnsen.
Executive Vice President Kristian Bogen, in charge of BI Norwegian School of Management’s corporate programmes, says the success is a result of many important and correct decisions.
“BI Norwegian School of Management offers customized executive education programmes across borders. This means we have international clients. Our ambition is to provide the flexibility and mobility needed by the companies we work with in their professional development schemes,” says Bogen.
Utility value decides
The Financial Times’ ranking of customized executive programmes is based on factors such as how the clients rate the utility value of the programmes for their respective organizations (value for money and future use), as well as reviewing the seniority of the participants. Programmes for top management are rated higher than programmes aimed at mid-level managers and specialists. The Financial Times also emphasises the international profile of the schools in the execution of the programmes.
BI’s internal programmes
In recent years, BI Norwegian School of Management has delivered a great number of customized programmes to private businesses and the public sector. These programmes are now conducted all across Norway, as well at locations abroad where companies might find it beneficial to conduct such programmes.
