Financial Accounting

The Financial Accounting course introduces the fundamentals of financial accounting and financial statement analyses. It prepares students to interpret and analyze financial statements for purposes such as equity valuation, credit analysis, investment decisions, financing decisions, etc. This course develops a thorough understanding of financial reporting from the users' perspective. Students learn to use financial accounting information to compare and evaluate companies' growth, profitability, risk, efficiency, competitive strategy, and intrinsic value.

Research area:Professor Huang teaches financial accounting, management accounting, and accounting data analytics in the MBA, EMBA, EE, and PhD programs. Her research areas include accounting and big data, data asset, performance evaluation, incentive contracting, cost management, and market valuation.

Professor Profile:Professor Rong Huang is the Lidasan Endowed Chair professor at the School of Management, Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She obtained her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas. Before joining Fudan, she was Associate Professor at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and tenured Associate Professor at Baruch College, City University of New York. Her research areas include accounting and big data, data asset, performance evaluation, incentive contracting, cost management, and market valuation. She serves as an editor at multiple leading accounting journals and has published many articles in top accounting and management journals. Her research was featured in The Economist, Forbes, Financial Times, Harvard Law School Forum, and Columbia Law School Forum. Professor Huang teaches financial accounting, management accounting, and accounting data analytics in the MBA, EMBA, EE, and PhD programs. She serves as an independent director of several public and private firms. She has provided consulting services to many enterprises and organizations, including Haier Group, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Shanghai Data Exchange Corporation, New York Financial Association, Institute of Management Accountants, etc.
