Leadership Development

In this module,we will emphasize the importance of leadership as behaviors influencing employees, co-workers and other stakeholders towards commitment and co-operation towards business objectives. The module focuses on fundamentals in leadership theories (particularly transformational leadership), assessment of leadership performance and potential, and on how leadership capacity in organizations may be developed. A particular emphasis is made on the relationship between leadership, leadership development and strategic business objectives. Additional emphasis is given to cross-cultural aspects of leadership, authority and interpersonal behaviors.

Emilie Lapointe

Department of Leadership and Organizational Behaviour

Research area:Émilie’s research has an international focus. Her current research is in the areas of organizational socialization, careers, employee-supervisor relationships and employee-organization relationships. Her research has been published in top-tier academic journals such as Human Relations, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and presented in academic conferences in Asia, South America and North America, Middle East, and Europe.

Professor Profile:Emilie Lapointe holds a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Montreal, Canada. She currently works as a Professor of Organizational Behavior at BI Norwegian Business School. She is Associate Dean for the MSc in Leadership and Organizational Psychology and co-lead the Personal Development Programme in BI's EMBA.

Prior to joining BI, Eilie worked in the higher educator sector in Canada and in China, notably as an Associate/Assistant Professor at Nottingham University Business School China and as a lecturer for HEC Montreal. She also worked in the consulting industry in Canada. She mostly performed psychological assessments for selection and development purposes, but also developed psychometric tools, and conducted team-level interventions and organizational development projects. She has taught courses in organizational psychology, organizational behavior, and micro human resource management to bachelor/master/PhD students, and junior and senior executives in Canada, China, and Norway.
