SAP:Senior Data Science Consultant (Scientist)

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP is currently expanding its global Data Science team that is responsible for building business oriented advanced analytics solutions / contents, leading data science demand generation activities, conversant with state of the art machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques and driving innovation initiatives from a business to a data science perspective through customer facing innovation workshops.

Typical tasks include:

-Explore, understand, and implement most recent algorithms and approaches for supervised and unsupervised machine learning.

-Create data models and algorithms from huge volumes data.

-The candidate will be part of engineering team solving and creating algorithms, which can be further used by enterprise applications

-Comfortably handle multi-terabyte data sets in scale-up and scale-out environments

-Understand business processes which create and consume data so as to be able to select best approaches, evaluate their performance and assess business relevance

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

For the Senior Data Scientist position, we are considering professionals or graduates with exceptionally high analytical problem-solving skills. A strong interest in scientific and technical work is required. Candidates are expected to quickly develop business consulting and sales capabilities on the job, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international team environment.

The ideal candidate covers the following expertise areas:

Background:

-M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related fields

-Strong background in mathematics, statistics and programming

-Strong background in Machine Learning (Deep Learning)

-Strong skills to implement state of the art algorithms and approaches for machine learning and learn quickly new mathematical or technical methods

-Track record of developing novel learning algorithms/systems Data Science Modeling

-Consulting experience

-Industry background

-Business Development

-Project / Program Management

Personal skills:

-Learn new mathematical or technical methods quickly and with little guidance

-Capable to participate in the sales process as a data science subject matter expert

-Program Management skills

-Ability to deliver clear, concise presentations to non-scientific audiences

-High energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic; “can do” attitude

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

-5+ years in the field of Data Science ideally required for this role

-Experience is required in most of the following areas:

(1) Data mining and predictive analysis in: R, Python, open source technologies

(2)Hands on experience with deep learning with areas of computer vision, natural language processing techniques etc.

(3)Programming: JavaScript, Java, HTML, Hadoop, Scala

(4)Software architectures: n-tier, SOA

(5)Database servers, for example: SAP HANA, Oracle, Mongodb, Apache Spark

(6)Database programming: SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL

(7)Data warehousing/reporting/ETL: SAP Business Objects

(8)Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)

LOCATION:

-Beijing or Shanghai, travel within 60% of time
