Zhang Junda, honorary director of Shanghai Cedar Charity Foundation, shared his experience in the philanthropic undertakings.
After his retirement, Mr. Zhang took over the Xinhua Love Education Foundation and strived to expand the "Pearl Class", which helps impoverished junior middle school graduates to continue their education in high school. In the past 14 years, he has changed the direction of life for over 60,000 children. Over 100 high schools are now partners of the "Pearl Class“ Project.
"My biggest comfort has been watching those children graduate from high school and college, and then start a family,“ said Mr. Zhang. ”I don't have a lofty ambition towards social welfare. I just want to help, one child at a time."
As a guest judge on the beneficiaries of the Fudan MBA Scholarship for the Charity Sector, Zhang encourages all those engaged in the charity sector to stick to their original aspirations, gain professionalism through in-depth studies, so as to better promote the development of public welfare.
