Norwegian bank held seminar at Fudan University

Sparebanken 1 Midt-Norge held a one-day seminar arranged by the BI Liaison Office at Fudan University the 7th of November. The delegation that counted more than 30 leading Norwegian business managers listened to lectures by, among others, the former Norwegian Minister of the Environment, Børge Brende.

The delegation from Sparebanken 1 had set up a 7 days tight schedule in China, with visits to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and IV Techmould in Suzhou among others. The last day of the trip was spent in the BI classroom at Fudan University School of Management with many interesting lectures. The members of the delegation, with a few exceptions, had never been to China, and took great interest in what the lecturers had to say. After a short introduction to Fudan University, the Nordic Centre and the BI-Fudan Programs, one of Fudan own professors in Economy, Prof. Wang Xiaozu held an interesting lecture about the Chinese Economic Development.

Later, the former Norwegian Minister of the Environment, Børge Brende, held a lecture about globalization and the role of China from a Norwegian perspective. Mr. Brende is currently a Member of the Norwegian Parliament, and has had a lot to do with Norwegian-Chinese relations through his work. In addition, the delegation also got to hear experiences from Norwegian companies in China. Baard Kristian Toenning, GM in Norway’s largest paint producer, Jotun, gave a very informative presentation of their organisation in China and the positive and negative experiences they have had in the Chinese market.
