Randi Lunnan has been appointed Full Professor of strategic management at BI Norwegian School of Management. Lunnan will be the eighth female professor at BI.

Professor of strategic management

Randi Lunnan is a Business Economist and a PhD in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). She argued her doctorate in 1999 with her dissertation "Strategic Flexibility and Alliances". In 1996 she was a visiting researcher at Harvard University in the USA. Lunnan was an associate professor at the Institute for Strategy and Logistics at the Norwegian School of Management BI from 1999 to 2008. She has been in charge of the educational content of the master specialization in strategy and BI's MBA education in China. She herself has taught “Strategic Management” course for more than 8 classes in the BI-Fudan MBA programme. She has served on the board of BI for two periods, as representative and deputy.

Studying alliances

The newly appointed professor of strategic management conducts empiric research into strategic alliances and international organisation. She has been concerned with how alliances evolve over time, and specifically what affects the sharing of knowledge and rejuvenation of alliances. Lunnan has also looked into the structuring of businesses across national boundaries, both in terms of localisation of head office functions and standardization vs. adaptation of strategy and work practices.

BI's eighth female professor 

Randi Lunnan becomes BI's eighth female professor. In 2002 Bente L?wendahl became BI's first female professor. She was later followed by Anne Welle-Strand (2004), Guri Hjeltnes (2004), Heidi H?ivik (2005), Astrid Richardsen (2005), Lena  Mossberg (2007) and Ingunn Myrtveit (2007).
