Abstract:

To reconcile the contradictory empirical findings in the literature, Dr. Pan and his colleagues developed a new construct–the basis of LMX differentiation–to explain the influence of LMX differentiation phenomenon. Specifically, they contend that, in addition to the extent to which leaders build differential relationships with group members, the basis of LMX differentiation (e.g., task-oriented factors vs. relationship-oriented factors) plays a critical role in affecting the consequence of differentiated treatments. In this presentation, Dr. Pan will present three empirical studies at different levels to explore the content, structure, and measure of LMX differentiation basis, as well as its influences on employees’ performance, group effectiveness, and leaders’ psychological and behavioral consequences. Directions for future research on LMX differentiation will also be elaborated at the end of the presentation.

Bio:

天津大学管理与经济学部副教授。研究领域包括:团队互动与领导力、企业家精神、人才发展与组织管理、创新与创造力。近年来,在《Journal of Vocational Behavior》、《Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology》、《心理学报》、《管理科学学报》等国内外期刊上发表论文30余篇,出版管理学著作2部,主持国家自然科学基金、教育部人文社科项目、天津市科技发展战略研究计划重点项目、天津市社科规划项目、天津市人才工作重点课题等多项国家及省部级课题。
