HARVARD Business School will team up with Fudan University's school of management to launch the first case-writing training program in China today to improve business education in the country.
This is the first time the Harvard Business School has exported its case writing and teaching methods to the Chinese mainland. The school is famous for using case studies as a teaching tool.
During a four-day training program, Harvard faculty members will lecture Chinese professors on classroom teaching skills, hold essay sessions to explore the important elements of cases and show them how to write a good case.
About 70 scholars from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan — such as Beijing University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Taipei University — were invited to attend the course at Fudan.
"Good cases about emerging Chinese businesses are needed by Chinese universities and US business schools as well," said John Chen, the program's director.
"Since Chinese cases should be written by Chinese professors, we are glad that we can help to improve the Chinese MBA education development."
