The Department of Accounting enjoys a history of more
                                                                than 70 years, and has cultivated a considerable number
                                                                of well-known accounting scholars, certified public
                                                                accountant and senior management professionals both home
                                                                and abroad. It had stopped operations for 40 years
                                                                before it was rejuvenated in 1993 with an aim to enable
                                                                its students to practice accounting in line with the
                                                                international standards, under the guideline of
                                                                inter-disciplinary functions.
                                                            
                                                            Currently, the department has 3 teaching and research
                                                                groups, including Financial Accounting, Cost Management
                                                                Accounting, and International Accounting. There are 4
                                                                full professors (all are PhD supervisors), one adjunct
                                                                PhD supervisor, 4 associate professors, and 5 lecturers.
                                                                Among them, 6 have PhD degrees ( 2 out of them have
                                                                received PhD degrees in accounting from overseas
                                                                well-known universities), 4 are studying for their PhD
                                                                degrees.
                                                            The faculty members of department are now involved to
                                                                conduct 3 national-level scientific research projects,
                                                                several social science research projects approved by
                                                                Ministry of Education and Shanghai City Government. They
                                                                have participated in compiling textbooks supported by
                                                                the ministry, and received many city-level awards for
                                                                teaching and research excellence. Professor LI Ruoshan
                                                                was China's first to graduate with a PhD degree in
                                                                auditing, who has been awarded by State Council for
                                                                outstanding contribution in his teaching and research
                                                                career.
                                                            There are 200 bachelor students, 50 master students and
                                                                20 PhD students who are now studying in the department.
                                                                The bachelor students have to complete certain amount of
                                                                credits before graduation.
                                                            
                                                                As a way to adapt to the internationalizing trend in the
                                                                accounting field and put to the full play the
                                                                inter-disciplinary advantages of Fudan University,
                                                                English is widely applied into daily teaching work.
                                                                Original English textbooks are used in all of the core
                                                                courses, and the students learn to improve accounting
                                                                skills according to international accounting rules,
                                                                which enables them to work for foreign invested
                                                                companies, multinationals, accounting firms and publicly
                                                                listed ones.
                                                            
                                                            The master students have to learn further specialized
                                                                knowledge which is including but not restricted to such
                                                                courses as: intermediate financial accounting (English),
                                                                advanced financial accounting (English), cost management
                                                                accounting (English), auditing (English), intermediate
                                                                financial management (English), financial statement
                                                                analysis (English), and international accounting
                                                                (English).
                                                            
                                                                The master-degree study is divided into two directions:
                                                                international accounting, accounting and capital market
                                                                research, including such degree courses as: empirical
                                                                methodology of accounting research, advanced financial
                                                                accounting, advanced managerial accounting,
                                                                international comparative accounting, and special topics
                                                                on international accounting. The master graduates are
                                                                able to work for accounting firms, foreign invested
                                                                companies, senior accounting positions in
                                                                multinationals, as well as in higher educational
                                                                institutions and scientific research organizations.
                                                            
                                                            The PhD-degree study is focused on accounting and
                                                                auditing theories. The PhD supervisors are including
                                                                Professor LI Ruoshan, ZHANG Wenxian, Professor ZHOU
                                                                Hong, and Professor ZHOU Qinye (adjunct).
