School Overview
Fudan University launched its business discipline in 1917, and later established the School of Business in 1929. But the management education was suspended in 1952, when the waves of restructuring hit all the universities and colleges nationwide. After China started to implement the reform and opening-up policy, Fudan University took the lead to resume the management education, and started to enroll undergraduates in Management discipline in 1977. The University later set up the Department of Management Science in 1979 and finally reestablished the School of Management in 1985.


After rapid development nearly four decades, the School now consists of 8 departments. It includes 5 disciplines and 12 sub-disciplines that award doctoral degrees, and 5 disciplines and 18 sub-discipline that award master's degrees. The School provides 5 professional master's degree programs including MBA/EMBA, Master of Professional Accountants (MPAcc) Program, Master of International Business Program, Master of Finance Program, and Master of Applied Statistics Program. It also has 7 undergraduate programs and 4 mobile stations for post-doctoral research. In the 2018 China University Professional-degree Rankings released by the China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center, Fudan University received an A+ in the discipline of Business Administration.
Every year, many students are attracted to FDSM for further studies due to its rigorous scholarship and favorable learning environment. The School has developed batches of management elites since its reestablishment. By the end of 2023, the School has a total of 881 undergraduates, 6,017 master students and 190 PhD students. Currently, the number of FDSM alumni has come to more than 60,000. In addition, the Executive Education Center (EE) trained nearly 5300 students every year, and so far, a total of about 67,000 managers of enterprises have participated in training. EE has served more than 800 enterprises in total.



The School boasts a total of 164 faculty members, including 62 full professors and 63 associate professors. 98.8% of the faculty holds a PhD degree, among them 81 faculty members obtained PhD degrees from overseas, accounting for 50% of the total faculty members.

Several decades of hard work have led to great achievements in various disciplines and research areas, with some being highly influential both home and abroad, as well as a long list of top-level academic papers, theses and patents, an array of outstanding leaders in all kinds of academic researches, and plenty of high-quality research teams. FDSM ranks 70th worldwide in the 2024-released UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings (2019-2023), landing again at No.1 in Chinese mainland and among the global top 100, a position it has maintained for 9 consecutive years.

Since its re-establishment, FDSM has been adopting an internationalization strategy and actively exploring opportunities of international exchanges. It has built up cooperation and exchanges with 110 well-known universities and research institutions from 32 countries and regions, such as USA, Italy, Norway, UK, France, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, and Hong Kong. The internationalization strategy has covered a wide range of areas including student exchange, faculty exchange, collaborative scientific research, curriculum development, corporate links and international cooperative research, etc.


In the Financial Times (FT)Global MBA Ranking 2025, Fudan MBA Program is ranked No.30 worldwide. In the FT Global EMBA Ranking 2024, all four programs of the School are ranked among Top 30. Washington University-Fudan University EMBA Program is ranked No.3 worldwide; Fudan EMBA Program is ranked No.10 worldwide; The University of Hong Kong-Fudan University IMBA Programme is ranked No.24 worldwide; BI Norwegian Business School-Fudan University MBA Program is ranked No.30 worldwide.



The School has been propelling school-enterprise cooperation in multi-dimensions to promote talents cultivation and the development of the School, with an aim to give back and serve the society. The enterprises promote their corporate brands and select talents through Career Interest Commune, Campus Talks, Career Fairs, Campus Competition, Practical Courses, Internship Placement, Career Linkage Events, Scholarship, Open Day, Workshop, iLab, D-Lab, Coaching Program, Mentor Program and Student Career Development Clubs, etc. Meanwhile, the School has hosted a variety of forums such as Fudan SVB Forum of Management Masters, Fudan Thought Leadership Forum, Bosihui HR Club, Join Forum, serving as the bond of cooperation between the School and enterprises.
