Partnership with Shanghai School Will Train Chinese Executives In
International Finance
NEW YORK, August XX, 2005 – R. Glenn Hubbard, Dean of Columbia Business School, today announced a partnership with Fudan University’s School of Management in Shanghai, China. The first phase of this initiative will provide high-potential Chinese financial executives the opportunity to study global financial markets with Columbia faculty.
The executive education program will kick-off in Shanghai on August 25, 2005 with opening ceremonies, followed by a program session by David Beim, Columbia Business School Professor of Professional Practice. His topic will be emerging financial markets. In the next phase of the program, planned for July, 2006, Chinese executives will study at Columbia and visit leading financial institutions in New York City. Approximately 50 participants for the program have been selected from the banking, investment, insurance, regulatory and government sectors in China.
“Columbia Business School is dedicated to bridging the gap between theory and practice in business, both domestically and internationally,” remarked Dean Hubbard. “This alliance connects pre-eminent business schools in China and the United States and is further evidence of the global nature of executive education today.”
Zheng Zukang, Dean of Fudan University’s School of Management, commented, “Shanghai is one of the key financial centers in China, and is positioned to become an international financial center in the very near future. We have a deep commitment to cultivating world-class executives who know and understand the global financial markets. We look forward to the business partnership between Fudan and Columbia Business School as a major step in achieving that goal.”
The collaboration between Fudan and Columbia on this executive training program is supported by Shanghai Financial Working Committee (SFWC), a department of the Shanghai Municipal Government. It will serve as the basis for future cooperation between the two schools in the areas of academic research, degree business education, and other executive education initiatives.
