A unique and fulfilling experience

The two-year study with BI-Fudan MBA Program has been a unique and fulfilling experience. It is a journey filled with excitement and surprises from day one; and laid a solid stepping stone at the end that supports one to explore more.

Understanding the business governance was among my major expectations from the MBA study. During the two years, I always use the word eye-opening to describe how I feel about the learning experience. The courses of BI-Fudan MBA program provide both a foundation of the associated knowledge and academic disciplines, and a framework to understand the Macro and Micro Environment around businesses, their impact and interactions in a systematic way. The two-year study allows me to start building not only the capability to see more dots, but also the ability to connect them in a bigger picture.

The various perspectives from the two years’ study are another critical asset to me. I used to have my own set of rules to view things, which I believed was logical and working well. These two years provided me with a unique and valuable opportunity to learn from the accomplished professors, and to study with talented classmates. Their diverse background, openness for sharing, diligence in researching, and enthusiastic brainstorming and debate sparkle new and many times interruptive and exciting ideas. There are many Aha Moments I have during the study and team discussion on the work I could have done differently, other alternatives I could have considered, or struggles and difficulties that could be actually great opportunities. It is both the knowledge we learned and the diverse perspectives we gained over the years that enable each one of us to build our unique treasure chest of competencies.

A growth and curiosity mindset is the third key asset I gained from the study. Learnings from the different courses are like a mirror that reflects gaps I have, areas I shall learn, or traits I could further develop. Study and teamwork with all the classmates allows me to see their strengths, wits, diligence and determination, which constantly inspires me to go an extra mile forward.

During the last group discussion in Oslo reflecting the two-year BI-Fudan MBA study journey, there is an interesting paradox that many of us resonate. Our knowledge gap is partially filled by the study, the gap at the same time has also been widening through the study. While now we become better at positioning our focuses, we have built more confidence to embark on a new journey and explore the unknowns. “When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.”
