摘   要:

Our work investigates the adoption of AI technology by firms in a duopoly competitive environment with multiple products, particularly focusing on the optimal pricing strategy for AI companies when their technology could significantly impact the downstream market. AI technology enhances product quality, influencing consumer willingness to pay, but also increases unit costs for users and affects competitive dynamics across market segments. We explore a scenario where a technological leader and follower engage in multi-product duopolistic competition, analyzing the effects of AI adoption on market shares and competitive behavior in segmented markets. The study reveals that AI adoption can either increase or decrease baseline consumption, depending on the AI usage fee, and that a single company's adoption of AI can lead to a competitive advantage. The optimal pricing strategy for AI services is examined in the context of downstream firms' adoption and production strategies, highlighting a trade-off between high AI service prices and widespread adoption among downstream companies. This research contributes to the AI adoption literature by offering a nuanced understanding of how AI technology intersects with multi-product competition and pricing strategies.

个人简介:

吴文豪,上海科技大学创业与管理学院助理教授。他于2020年毕业于美国亚利桑那大学,获得经济学博士学位。他的研究领域主要为博弈论、行为经济学、实验经济学。他目前的研究包括了策略性信息获取和传递机制,证据揭露模型下的信息透明,和不确定条件下的互惠行为等话题。他的文章已经发表在了Journal of Economic Theory,Games and Economic Behavior等理论经济学杂志上。
