CMP8 is the last class of Master of Management in Change Management Program in BI-Fudan MBA program. There are many gains and many happiness, when they graduated from BI and Fudan last summer. One year later, looking back the past studying days, some alumni want to share their experience with you.
Author: Li Lei, the monitor of CMP8, Vice Director of Foreign Language Department, ShanghaiJianqiaoCollege.
There is no doubt that I have learned a lot during the two years study in BI- Fudan program. Following are some of the most important things I would like to share with my fellow alumni in being a successful manager. They are really beneficial both in my work and life.
First, Global awareness. The professors have brought keen global awareness, perspective and insight into both traditional and latest development on international management theories and styles like the famous ones from Adam Smith, Max Weber and Peter Drucker.
Second, Self-management. By self-management, I would rather emphasize what our professors had taught us on time-management, conflict management and the seven elements of emotional intelligence which are important both in our work and life.
Third, Planning and administration. We need to set priorities on and decide what tasks need to be done, determining how they can be done, allocating resources to enable them to be done, and then monitoring progress to ensure that they are done.
Fourth, Teamwork. I am very impressive with lots of case work in our study, the core of which is to enhance our teamwork. By having the case study in small groups, we were made to be collectively responsible and interdependent so as to gain efficiency and effectiveness and to ensure to create a supportive team environment.
Fifth, Strategic action. Our professors have taught us that we should be always be aware that in order to do our work well, we need to understand our overall mission, vision and values of our company and to ensure our self actions and those of my colleagues are aligned with them. Our program CMP requires us to have the competency to accurately anticipate strategic trends and prepare for the future needs of our organizations.
Last and perhaps the most fundamental is Communication, the basic theory and correct methods of which were taught in most modules. With the help of our professors and classmates, I have come to know that whatever we do and wherever we are, we need to have the effective transfer and exchange of information that leads to better understanding between ourselves and others. Communication is not something you do to other people; it is something you do with them.
My dear alumni, I must say we really have benefited a lot from our BI-Fudan program and I am sure we will continue to benefit from this program in our lifelong study. Hereby I would like to call on our alumni to share what we have gained both in our work and life and have communications in the future. Also I would like to extend our warmest and sincerest wishes to BI-Fudan MBA program. May this BI-Fudan program continue to flourish and yield more fruits in the days to come.
