How to apply (For Mainland Chinese students)

Application Requirements

Applicants for the Master Programs shall be third-year undergraduates with excellent academic performance in their first three years of study, who can ensure that they will obtain the recommendation for exemption from entrance examination from their affiliated institutions in 2026.

Application Material Check-List

• Application Form (automatically generated by the online application system, no manual operation required);
• Scanned copies of the ID photo, academic transcripts (including transcripts of the second bachelor's degree or major), English test scores, and other supporting documents;
• Two letters of recommendation from associate professors or above, or industry experts. You are required to enter the referees' email addresses in the system (please use their official email addresses), and the system will automatically send the recommendation letter links to the corresponding email boxes.

Application Process

In principle, students applying for the program need to register and submit applications both in the college system and the university system. If an applicant intends to apply for other programs after submitting the application to our college, our college can process the withdrawal of the application in the university system after the applicant submits a withdrawal request.

How to apply(International students)

Application Requirements

Applicants should be (have):

• Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport;
• Bachelor’s degree (We welcome applicants from various academic backgrounds);
• Proof of English proficiency. (Can be waived if you apply Master of Data Science & Business Analytics);
• Solid mathematics and programming background, strong Chinese language proficiency (if apply Master of Finance – Quantitative Finance & Financial Engineering and Master of Data Science & Business Analytics)
• Applying for Master of Finance - Quantitative Finance & Financial Engineering and Master of Data Science & Business Analytics will need to pass the online math and Python test.

Exam Topics

Mathematics:

• a. Calculus (functions, limits, continuity, single-variable calculus, multivariable calculus,infinite series);
• b. Linear Algebra (determinants, matrices, vectors, linear spaces, Systems of Linear Equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices, quadratic forms);
• c. Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics (random events and probability, random variables and their probability distributions, two-dimensional random variables and their probability distributions, numerical characteristics of random variables, the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem, basic concepts of mathematical statistics, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis).

Programming:

Basic Python syntax,fundamental data structures (lists, tuples, dictionaries, sets), control-flow design (selection, loops), function definition, basic concepts of function-argument passing, basic concepts of algorithmic complexity and the complexity of common algorithms, common string-manipulation functions,introductory knowledge of regular expressions, basic file operations, basic concepts of object-oriented programming, common functions in NumPy and Pandas.

If an applicant has completed a Bachelor’s degree in an English-speaking country, or is a citizen from an English-speaking country, there is no need to provide TOEFL or IELTS. The applicant can request to waive GMAT/GRE score by submitting his/her undergraduate transcript for pre-evaluation.

Otherwise, the applicant must submit at least 1 test score among the following 4 test, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, GRE. Minimum requirement are listed below:

• A short video of your self-introduction, within 60 seconds (Speak Chinese if apply Master of Data Science & Business Analytics, otherwise, speak English)

1. If the original document is not in English or Chinese, please upload a notarized Chinese or English translation as well as the original one.
2. You will need to provide your diploma of bachelor degree before September otherwise you may lose your seat in student registration.

Application Process

Phase 1 Online Application (FDSM System)

There will be 4 rounds of review throughout the application season. We strongly encourage applicants to apply the earlier rounds.

1. Log on to FDSM website:
   https://app.fdsm.fudan.edu.cn/admission/application/upec/int
2. Complete the online FDSM application form and upload required documents. Please be aware that the school will only review applications that are completed and submitted, with all required documents attached.
3. Note: If you fail to provide all of the required documents, your application will not be accepted. Other documents might be required when necessary. If you want to revise your application form afterwards, please click the “Save” button. Once you submit the application form, you will not be able to revise it.
4. The system will close in April 2025, plan accordingly.

Phase 2 Online/Onsite Interview

1. Qualified applicants will be invited for an interview via email. If the applicant is located in Shanghai at the time, an onsite interview might be arranged.
2. Interview results will be released around 1-2 weeks after the interview.

Phase 3 Online Application (Fudan University System)

Qualified applicants who pass the interview must log on to Fudan website:

https://istudent.fudan.edu.cn/apply

and complete the online International Student Application of Fudan University, upload required documents and pay the application fee (800RMB) online. The system usually opens around mid-December.
