• Professor Xiaole WU from Fudan SoM has been selected as a "Shanghai Young Social Science Talent"

    Recently, the results of the 12th "New Talents in Shanghai's Social Sciences" (2022-2023) selection were unveiled. After individually self- nomination, unit selection and recommendation, and municipal-level evaluation and review, 19 young scholars stood out from 173 candidates. Professor Xiaole WU from School of Management at Fudan University (Fudan SoM) was honorably elected. This year, a total of 4 young scholars from Fudan University were selected as "Shanghai Young Social Science Talent".

     

     

    Professor WU from Department of Management Science at our School has long been dedicated to research on global supply chains and risk management. She focuses on the global industrial layout and transfer, supply chain resilience and security, the application of artificial intelligence in supply chains, and so forth. Professor WU has provided consulting services such as resilience assessment, supply chain operation, and AI-based prediction and optimization for State Grid Corporation of China, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, ZTE Corporation and other enterprises. She has also offered valuable management insights and practical suggestions at both the industrial and policy levels for those enterprises.

     

    Professor WU has been leading Distinguished Young Scholars projects, and Excellent Young Scholars projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and received an "Outstanding" evaluation in the post-assessment of general projects. Her research achievements have been published in journals such as Management Science, encompassing 15 papers in UTD journals. In 2022, led by Professor WU, the NSFC major project titled "Basic Theories of Supply Chain Resilience and Security", was approved. Professor WU became the youngest scholar to preside over a project at this level of projects, fully demonstrating the scientific research strength of the management discipline in serving major national development strategies. It also marked a momentous breakthrough in the history of research projects approval for our School.

     

    Professor WU has won the Outstanding Yong Scholar Awards, the First Prize of the Chinese Scholars Association for Management Science and Engineering, and the Second Prize of the 13th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievements Award, etc. She also has been selected as a Model Worker in Shanghai Campaign for Women's Achievements. In addition, she serves as a member of the Expert Consultation Committee of Department of Management Science at the National Natural Science Foundation of China, an editor of the Journal of Management Science in China, a Senior Editor of Production and Operations Management (POM), and an Associate Editor of Naval Research Logistics (NRL), etc. Moreover, she holds positions such as the standing director of the Chinese Society for Management Science and Engineering and the secretary-general of Risk Management Committee of the Chinese Academy of Management.

     

    Under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Municipal Committee, "Shanghai Young Social Science Talent" (2022-2023) selection activity was organized and carried out by the Shanghai Oriental Youth Society from November 2024 to January 2025. Since the first "Shanghai Young Social Science Talent" selection activity was launched in 2010, this project has been successfully held for 12 sessions, successively selecting a total of 117 young scholars. As an important talent selection project in the field of philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai, the "Shanghai Young Social Science Talent" selection has effectively promoted the growth of a generation of young talents and played a positive role in strengthening the construction of the theoretical team in philosophy and social sciences.
