Business Strategy

The module focuses on the art and craft of designing, making, and implementing strategy. The strategy of a firm sets its long- and short term goals and its road to realizing these. The aim of the module is to understand and identify external conditions that make it necessary to change a strategy, and the internal conditions that impact which strategy is possible, and how. The module include a range of tools that can be used to make and implement strategy, and encourages thinking about short and long term strategic actions.

Randi Lunnan

Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship

Professor Profile: I am a Professor in Strategy and Leadership at BI Norwegian Business School where I have been since 1999. Currently I hold a Chair in Ocean Business from the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation. I have held many different academic responsibilities, such as being an editor and organizing conferences, and professionally I have engaged with many enterprises in their development of strategy. I was the head of the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship for eight years, and I supervised many PhD students.

Research area: My academic expertise centres around two main topics: Inter-organizational collaboration and governance, and multinational firm strategy and organization. I have published many papers on how firms enter and develop collaborations and implement mergers, and how firms manage units distributes across different institutional and geographical spaces. Currently, I am interested in the geopolitical shifts requiring increased focus on sustainability and flexibility.
