Know more about Norwegian Business School

BI Norwegian Business School is the largest business school in Norway and the second largest in all of Europe, renowned as a top-tier global business institution with the Triple Crown, accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System), AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and AMBA (Association of MBAs).The MBA degree certificate issued by our program is the same as the one issued by BI Norwegian Business School and is internationally acknowledged.  

What distinguishes BI-Fudan International MBA from other joint programs?

As one of the first Sino-foreign joint programs approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1996, BI-Fudan International MBA program is designed to meet the needs of managers from both multinational and domestic companies operating in a global environment.It has been ranked globally No.30 in the 2024 FT EMBA ranking, with Salary Increases and Alumni Network ranking globally No.1. Furthermore, it has consistently ranked globally No.1 for six consecutive years in international faculty in MBA Ranking.

What degree certificate will be granted after graduation?

Graduates will be granted an MBA degree certificate issued by BI Norwegian Business School and an attendance certificate issued by Fudan University, School of Management, accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China.(Approval Letter No. MOE31NO1A20030504O).

Program Structure and Teaching Mode

The program is designed to be completed in two years. It employs a modular course teaching model, where classes are essentially concentrated into consecutive days, Thursday through Sunday for Shanghai module, or Monday through Friday for Overseas module,  every 4 to 6 weeks, with all instruction conducted in English.

What are the requirements for application?

Candidates holding a masters degree are required to have at least 3 years working experience, and in a management position.Candidates holding a bachelors degree are required to have at least 5 years working experience, and in a management position.Candidates holding a college diploma are required to have at least 10 years working experience, and in a management position.Possessing a certain extent of experience in team management or project management;Excellent business English communication skills.   

What is the application procedure?

Registration -> Submission of application form -> Selection of Intake -> Background assessment -> Participation in interview and written test -> Both interview and written test Pass-> Offer letter -> Reply to accept admission and pay deposit.      

What level of English proficiency is required?

This project is conducted in English, necessitating that applicants possess a strong command of English in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.   

Does the program accept international students? Are there any differences in admission criteria?

Yes, we accept international students. The admission requirements are the same for both Chinese students and international students. However, we do not sponsor student visa. Our international program conducts all courses in English.

About Intake

When can I get my entrance exam results?

Entrance exam papers will be reviewed and graded within 7-10 weekdays. The Program Office will then inform you the result and the following procedures

How is the interview conducted? What are you looking for in an interview?Who are the interviewers?

We usually use the form of an individual interview.We mainly review applicants Positive and Proactive Attitude, Leadership Capability, Organizational Engagement, Application of Experience, Logical and Analytical Skill and English Ability. Interviewers are professors from BI Norwegian Business School and Fudan University, School of Management, and senior alumni from our program.

Applicants possess strong English oral proficiency but fail the written test; is there a chance for a re-examination?

Yes. If applicants pass the interview but fail the written test, the program will arrange for a retest to reaffirm their actual English proficiency and provide feedback.      

About Curriculum

Where is the faculty from?

Two thirds of the faculty is from BI Norwegian Business School and one third is from Fudan University, School of Management. Fudan University, School of Management also assigns a co-teacher or a teaching assistant to each course.      

How is the curriculum designed and what language are the courses conducted in?

The curriculum is designed based on module teaching methods and offers 11 core compulsory courses and 15 elective courses. Each student is required to complete 4 out of 15 elective courses. Every 4-6 weeks, classes are scheduled over 4 full consecutive days. Courses are taught in English and use English textbooks and materials.  

How are my academic performance evaluated? How can I get the degree certificate?

Academic performance is evaluated through attendance, class involvement, assignments and tests. To complete each course module, you need a 75% attendance rate, be involved in class discussions, and pass tests and assignments. You will be granted a MBA degree upon completion of the 15 course modules and submission of a qualified graduation thesis. 

Do the students have opportunities to study abroad?

Yes. Every student is required to attend the last compulsory course and the graduation ceremony in Oslo, Norway. Our program also offers overseas courses conducted at Haas Business School of University of California, Berkeley in U.S.A, Instituto de Empresa in Spain, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, HPI in Germany and Norrsken in Sweden. Students can also apply for the selection exams for exchange program provided by Fudan University, School of Management every year.   

About Students

How much is the tuition? Does the tuition cover all the costs? Can I pay the tuition in instalments? Does the tuition include the cost of studying overseas?

In 2025, the tuition is 508,000RMB which covers the cost for classes, textbooks and materials.       

What is the average size of a class?What is the student composition in this program?

Each class has approximately 50 students.The average age of our students is 36.7 with an average work experience of 13.4 years. 73.4% of the students are from multinational companies or overseas market focused enterprises, with mid-level management positions or above.

How many teaching locations do you have? Are there any teaching locations outside of Shanghai? Do you provide correspondence or distance learning?

Except for the overseas courses, all courses are conducted on the School of Management,Fudan University. No, we do not provide correspondence or distance learning.    

Are there any lectures offered besides the main courses?

Yes, we offer lectures, forums and short-term training classes to enhance connections with alumni and continuously improve oneself.

What assistance can the program offer in terms of career development before and after graduation?

The U-Transformation Career Transition Plan (referred to as the UT Plan), designed by the Fudan University-BI Norwegian International MBA program, is dedicated to nurturing students' Responsible Leadership: groundbreaking growth, lifelong learning, and social responsibility. Throughout different stages of the MBA learning process, the plan facilitates a series of learning activities aimed at shifting leadership thinking and personal growth. These include customized UT theme workshops, leadership thinking lectures, seasoned alumni career experience sharing, and career counseling guidance. The UT Plan empowers MBA students to redefine their life missions, contemplating the essential shift from skill enhancement (Doing) to self-transformation (Being), and becoming business leaders who drive corporate change and foster technological innovation.   

Can I transfer to the next class after I am admitted?

Usually this is not permitted. However in special cases you can file an enrolment postponement application. After you finish relevant procedures and hand in the materials to BI Norwegian Business School via the Program Office, we can retain your student status for one semester at most. If you cannot enrol after one semester, you will need to re-apply and retake the entrance exams and pay the tuition based on the new class standards.
