The school has recently received a letter of gratitude from the Qianjiang District government in Chongqing Municipality, which expressed a feeling of thank-you to all the graduates of EMBA 2006’ autumn class 1 for their RMB500,000 donation to finance constructing a primary school.

The “Shuitian Village Central Primary School,” which is located in the Qianjiang District, is going to accommodate more than 1,000 students who are unexceptionally from farming families in that poverty-stricken mountainous region.

The donated money has been allocated to constructing a complex teaching building in the school.

Earlier in April of this year, approximately 30 students of EMBA 2006’ autumn class 1 joined efforts with Shanghai Xucheng Investment Management Co. Ltd, a firm created by school’s EMBA students, to donate a total sum of RMB 500,000 in assistance of building the teaching complex, as a way to manifest how Fudan students are caring about the educational development in the less-developed Western China regions.

In the letter, it is said that, the act of donation has embodied how a special love of Fudan’s School of Management is like toward the poverty-hit ethnic minority regions, and how close the tie between the prosperous coastal city and the hinder land of Qianjiang District appears to be.

It is also an evidence of the success the school has achieved in EMBA education, the letter said.

It continued that, the complex building is going to be completed and put into use by the end of this year. Before that, six EMBA students, representing the whole of EMBA 2006’ autumn class 1, have paid a visit to the construction site in Shuitian Village on June 24.

During their trip, the students expressed that efforts will continue to be poured into the local educational development, in various ways like dispatching excellent teachers from Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces to teach in the Qianjiang District in Chongqing, or inviting excellent teachers and students from the district to visit schools in Eastern coastal areas.
