Standard Chartered Bank (China) Partners School to Build General Managers’ Capabilities in Executive Training Program
More than 20 general managers of city branches and regional business heads of Standard Chartered Bank (China) have just completed one-week customized program in the School, which dated from June 21 to 25.
Titled “Banking Executive Development Program”, it aims to broaden the participants’ visions, improve their leadership and sharpen their entrepreneurial spirits, so as to cultivate leaders and managers who can meet up with SCB (China)’s higher demands for strategic business development in the future.
The program, which actually composes of the first phase of the bigger project within SCB (China), helps them “learn to see the forest”. Once back to their offices after the learning, they have to “start to plant the trees” in Phase 2, and to “become a great manager” as expected by SCB in Phase 3.
To ensure that the study would produce what has been expected, the School had allocated the best faculty to design and deliver the program.
During the pre-training preparation period which had lasted more than 2 months, 7 professors had taken an active role in connecting and exchanging thoughts with SCB (China)’s senior experts and general managers of city branches, so as to understand what is really needed by the participants in terms of such training fields as leadership, market environment, strategic thinking and entrepreneurship, legal and ethics, marketing and sales.
On the opening ceremony of June 21, Associate Dean Prof. Zhiwen Yin said that, the past years have witnessed a more and more consolidated partnership with SCB (China), in forms of students’ internship, employment, forums, etc.
He said that through training, both sides would be happy to see the bilateral friendship go up to a higher and deeper stage.

Through the five-day intensified training, the participants would learn how to comprehensively increase their management skills and consolidate their branches’ and businesses’ performance in increasing the market share, by means of in-class study, case discussions, and team reports.

Mr. LIM Cheng Teck, Chief Executive Officer of SCB (China), said in his speech on June 22 that, the Bank is confident that through the training each of participants would know how to improve their management and strategic thinking capabilities, and to lead to a greater success after back to their businesses.
He also showed that, the training clearly represents SCB’s strategic intention to go deeper into China market, and therefore expected the participants to understand the market and Chinese culture better after the five-day training.

School Dean Prof. Xiongwen Lu joined to deliver part of the program, and conferred certificates of study completion to the participants after the training was completed on Friday afternoon.
