Elite Learning Open Day: On Capital Market and Industrial Innovation
On May 27th, the “Elite Learning Open Day” activity and the MBA/MPAcc/EMBA Joint Admission Consultation Meeting were held at School.

The “Elite Learning Open Day” attracted nearly 500 audience
At the beginning of the activity, Professor Shizheng QIAN, former Vice President of Shanghai Industrial Investment Co. Ltd., currently Vice Chairman of Haitong Securities Company and also a distinguished professor of our School, delivered a speech on the “delisting of Alibaba”, discussing the purposes of Alibaba’s delisting and issues such as how Alibaba Group is going to develop new business afterwards. As indicated by QIAN, Alibaba’s success lies in a four-step formula: fast occupation of market share, successful establishment of web-based certification for companies, gradual acquisition of Yahoo! China, and asset securitization. The major bottleneck Alibaba currently encounters is how to update existing technologies and change its business model. QIAN also pointed out the delisting of Alibaba is actually “retreating in order to advance” with the ultimate intention of building itself as a flagship e-business company in China by appealing to assistance from the international capital market.
After QIAN’s speech, Mr. Zhengyi YUAN, an alumnus of School and Co-chairman of Financial Institution Management in Asia-Pacific Region and Managing Director of Investment Banking, Credit Suisse (Hong Kong), talked about the financing development of technology innovation companies in the capital market. He used Alibaba’s acquisition of Yahoo! China as an example to illustrate the role of capital market in “promoting” technology innovation companies. He also used the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Growth Enterprise Market as another example, indicating the emerging innovation industries in China need more marketization, more information transparency, and better follow-up monitoring in order to obtain more financing from “star” companies. He analyzed in detail the future development directions of technology companies from the perspective of China’s capital market.

In the following MBA/MPAcc/EMBA Joint Admission Consultation Meeting, the recruitment policies of each program of our School were introduced to the audience. A basic introduction to Fudan University, School and its MBA program and School was given. In addition, the audience were also introduced to the characteristics, application procedure and admission requirements of the EMBA and MPAcc programs of our School. At the end, under the guidance of the Student Ambassadors, the audience started the “Pursuit of Wisdom” trip and visited the campus of Fudan University.
The Elite Learning Open Day is an important component of the Elite Learning Program. By opening up the campus, white-collars are attracted to join a series of seminars, consultation meetings and saloons. Moreover, it also provides an opportunity for those white-collars who want to study in the MBA program of our School to communicate with our professors and alumni and learn more about School. This activity also symbolizes School’s realization of its social responsibilities and dedication to cultivating professionals to be elite business leaders in China.
