New Book Launch Ceremony Held for 2016 Annual Analysis Report on China’s Industrial Development and Research on the Establishment and Development of China’s New Industrial System
On March 16, 2016 Annual Analysis Report on China’s Industrial Development and Research on the Establishment and Development of China’s New Industrial System edited by Director of our School’s Department of Industrial Economics Prof. Mingjie RUI and Director of the Shanghai Industrial Development Research and Appraisal Center Xiaosha WANG were launched at our School, and the China’s New Industries · New Models · New Momentum Symposium was held at the same time. Associate Dean Ming ZHENG presided over the whole activity.

The Establishment and Development of China’s New Industrial System mainly explored new theories, new strategies and new policies on how China can get out of the structural trap or middle income trap of industrial development and become a high-income developed country. The project team engaged in meticulous research in more than four years. The summed-up results of project research were mainly manifested by innovation in three important theories: first, on the basis of analyzing the main mid- and long-term variables that would influence the new industrial system and industrial development, especially in combination with the future trends of intelligence, big data and industrial Internet, establishing a possible new industrial system of the future theoretically; second, based on possible research on future development of industrial integration, carrying out research on the goal model, strategic thoughts and strategic path of China’s new industrial system of the future, especially the new comparative advantages of the new industrial system’s functioning, with high theoretical innovation and application value; third, with respect to analysis and study of China’s current industrial system, making the conclusions about empirical quantitative analytic methods reliable through empirical thoughts on macroscopic and key main categories of industries and the regional industrial system, and developing new paradigms of empirical research on industrial economics. Then Director Xiaosha WANG interpreted 2016 Annual Analysis Report on China’s Industrial Development. After analyzing the overall situation of China’s economic and industrial development, the situation of industrial development and the situations of industrial development in four regions in 2016, the report put forward three policy recommendations: first, further strengthening traditional industries’ transformation and upgrading; second, fostering new momentum for industrial development from the perspective of demand change; third, implementing different policies for regions with different characteristics.

The symposium themed “Change and Development: China’s New Industries, New Models, New Momentum” was held later. The guests present carried out discussion focusing on topics such as the influence of demand change on supply-side reform, comments on China’s industrial development in 2016, strategic thoughts on the development of China’s new industries and strategies, new models and new momentum, and strategic thoughts on Shanghai’s industrial development. Nearly 30 media asked questions on the topics they were concerned about to the guests present.
