2017 Third Fudan University Closed-door Summit of Listed Companies’ Alumni Leaders Held Successfully
On September 10, the 2017 Third Fudan University Closed-door Summit of Listed Companies’ Alumni Leaders was held successfully in the Guanghua Tower, Fudan University. Vice Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and Former Chairman of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council Prof. Rongrong LI, Managing Director and Global Partner of Bain Capital Asia LLC and alumna Lihong WANG, nine professors from the School and more than 40 alumni of previous years serving as chairmen and general directors in Chinese and overseas listed enterprises were invited to attend this summit. They carried out exchanges and discussions on hot topics in the forms of expert sharing and group discussion and thus helped listed companies’ main persons-in-charge broaden their visions, update their knowledge and understand the logic of enterprises’ development in depth to propel listed companies’ development under the new situation.
First, Dean of our School Prof. Xiongwen LU gave a speech. Dean Xiongwen LU demonstrated the continuity of Fudan University’s business education from the aspects of educational ideas, strategies and methods, and at the same time thanked alumni and introduced academic research and talent cultivation by the School of Management.

Then, Prof. Rongrong LI gave a speech themed “My Understanding of Management”. He regarded management as a way to enhance resource allocation’s effectiveness. He interpreted management’s elements “control” and “treatment” separately. The most important aspect of “control” is responsibility. When responsibility is clarified, implemented and supervised, it can be improved through “treatment”. Rongrong LI proposed “carrying out less control and more treatment” and giving priority to “treatment”.


After the keynote speech, the forum entered the link of roundtable discussion. Moderated by Dean Xiongwen LU, Prof. Rongrong LI, President of Xinri E-Vehicle and alumnus Xuezhong ZHAO, co-founder and President of Laiyifen and alumna Ruifen YU, President of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding Co., Ltd. and alumnus Min ZUO, Chairman of Goldcard Smart Group Co., Ltd. And alumnus Bin YANG and other guests discussed “Upgrading of the Chinese Economy and Corporate Management in the Era of Intelligence”. The guests proceeded from their industries’ features and development strategies and their work experience to discuss how enterprises and the economy should be transformed and upgraded in depth.


In the afternoon, alumni from listed companies carried out discussion on hot key topics such as overseas investment, the new economy and enterprises’ transformation, consumption upgrading, brand leadership, artificial intelligence, inheritance of family enterprises and the art of leadership under the guidance of Prof. Weijia SHEN, Prof. Mingjie RUI, Prof, Liyin JIN, Prof. Qingyun JIANG, Prof. Jie LIU, Prof. Changjiang LV, Prof. Baohua XIANG and Prof. Jiming BAO respectively. The School’s professors gave engrossing sum-up speeches on various groups’ topics after the discussion.

After the closed-door meeting, Managing Director and Global Partner of Bain Capital Asia LLC and alumna Lihong WANG gave a theme speech titled “Corporate Merger Management Strategy”. Alumna Lihong WANG with abundant experience in investment management systematically shared her view on investment, merger and management from the perspective of value investment.

Following the mission of “rooting in China’s progress, making efforts for innovative research and cultivating academic specialists, business elites and social leaders having international visions and knowing China’s national conditions well”, the School of Management, Fudan University has adhered to the consistent principle of serving alumni warmly and providing alumni with intellectual support. Based on the successful experience from the previous forums, this summit gathered scholars, experts and industrial specialists and further expanded thoughts.
