On October 16, 2017, the UK’s Financial Times (FT) released the 2017 ranking of EMBA programs around the world. Four programs of the School of Management, Fudan University are all ranked among the Top 50 in the world, making the School of Management, Fudan University and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the United States’ leader in EMBA education, the only two schools of management in the world having made the brilliant achievement of having four programs on the Top 100 list for the second consecutive year.

The School of Management, Fudan University not only was the first business school on the Chinese mainland to participate in FT’s ranking of EMBA programs around the world with the most programs, but also performed steadily in six consecutive years and made steady overall improvement in the ranking. It is especially worth mentioning that the School of Management, Fudan University participated in the assessment with not only a lot of programs, but also the largest total number of students. The total number of more than 600 students in the four programs participating in the assessment is the largest on the global Top 100 list.

The obtainment of these results manifests the continuous improvement in the comprehensive strength of the School of Management, Fudan University. Thanks to the continuous improvement in the School’s faculty, scientific research and internationalization levels, the School’s positions on international rankings were always ahead and rose steadily. In February 2017, the University of Texas at Dallas in the United States (UTD) released the 2012-2016 Top 100 Worldwide Business School Research Rankings. Our School ranked 96thin the world, 9thin Asia and 1st in mainland China again. The Business School Research Rankings that originated from UTD are a global authoritative indicator for evaluating the international research rankings of the business schools of various institutions of higher learning. In the 2017 QS World University Rankings, Fudan University ranked from 51st to 100th in three academic fields related to management, including “business and management”, “accounting and finance” and “statistics and operational research”, holding a leading position among Chinese institutions of higher learning. The proportion of the School’s successful bids for National Natural Science Foundation of China projects has remained high. The proportion of successful bids for collective acceptance period projects in the past five years is about 40%, much higher than the management division’s funding rate of about 20%.
The School’s internationalization is manifested by not only the increase in the number of foreign teachers and students, but also, more importantly, concepts and standards of school running in line with first-class international business schools. The School now has 12 foreign teachers from six countries and regions in the world and more than 500 international students. Various departments and programs follow research theories and thoughts at the forefront of international management closely, take first-class international business schools’ teaching concepts and methods as benchmarks, and adopt the most classic original English textbooks. Most courses are taught in English, and many programs have realized all-English teaching.
This year happens to be the centennial of the establishment of Fudan University’s business education. The obtainment of these results is the best commemoration of the centennial of Fudan University’s business education and a result of inheriting and surpassing Fudan University’s business education traditions in the past 100 years. Facing the future, the School of Management, Fudan University will still shoulder the missions of the times, further improve educational quality and scientific research strength and make efforts to foster more internationally competitive high-end talents on a larger scale for China’s sustained economic development.
