The first three winners of a nationwide management research award were named yesterday at Fudan University.
Initiated by former Vice Premier Li Lanqing, the Fudan Premium Management Awards distribute 800,000 yuan (US$100,000) in cash prizes each year to domestic scholars who have put forward creative management theories or successful entrepreneurs who have made outstanding contributions to the country's business development.
Zhu Daoli, a professor at Fudan's school of management, won a 350,000 yuan award for his work on petroleum delivery routes. Chen Xikang, a researcher with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was given a similar award for his work on the link between inputs and outputs in the agricultural sector. The third prize went to Tsinghua University professor Chen Jian for his work on online group buying strategies.
"The award is the best recognition of our management researchers' contributions to the whole country's development," said Zhu.
Since March, the awards received 66 applications from around the country. Applicants were first assessed by a panel of management professionals, and the three finalists underwent a monthlong public hearing before clinching the award.
