A PAN-ASIA MBA program launched by three universities in China, Singapore and South Korea opened yesterday to nurture global business leaders with an Asian understanding.

Shanghai's FudanUniversity, National University of Singapore and KoreaUniversity in Seoul yesterday accepted its first intake to the "Asia MBA" program.

The first intake includes 33 students from China, South Korea, India, Singapore, Indonesia and the United States. The students will gain double degrees at the completion of the course, said Huang Jianbing with FudanUniversity.

Students will spend three semesters in Shanghai, Singapore and Seoul to gain a local understanding in business, said Lu Xiongwen, dean of the School of Management at FudanUniversity.

The three Asian business schools cooperated to provide management talents qualified to solve problems unique to the Asian market.

"We want to train students to understand each location's culture, economic system and specific business practice," said Bernard Yeung, dean of Business School of NUS. "Most of our understanding of business is based on European and American models."
