On Nov. 8th, 2010, the Fudan IMBA Practice-based Learning Projects kick-off ceremony was held in AIA Hall, Starr building. Professor Yin, Associate Dean of School of Management, delivered the opening remark and Sun Long, executive director of IMBA,gave students an overview on the program. The project provides the experiential learning chance to IMBA students with the resources and guidance, aiming to improve the students’ comprehensive capabilities of implementing theory into practice, to create an academic and social atmosphere cultivating experiential and dynamic learning.

The Practice-based Learning Project (PBLP) puts emphasis on learning by doing. Through experiential practice, students can observe and do the self-reflection, then by conceptualization and generalization they apply what they have learnt into practice, during which, students can improve their capability of team-working, communication skills, decision-making, creativity and leadership. The project provides diverse opportunities including Consulting Projects (such as CTG, China-lab, GCP), Entrepreneurship Practice (such as “Join” Competition), Industry Analysis Project and others like international competitions. Students welcomed such kind of projects from which they can accumulate many valuable things.

Then Mr. Yang Jun, Assistant Vice President of Chia Tai Enterprise International Limited & Chia Tai (China) Investment Co, Ltd., introduced the FUDAN-CPG cooperation project proposal. Chia Tai Group is a well-known multinational company, found by Thai Chinese. Chia Tai’s vision is to prepare and develop the potential talent teams through cooperation with top local business institutions. This project aims to put theory into practice, learn from practice, to provide platform for knowledge sharing and to enhance mutual understanding and develop together. In 2009, five projects have been successfully completed. Students who participated in those projects have been highly acknowledged for their great performance and talents by both the sponsors and the tutors.

Next, our alumni Chen guang, Zhao qian, Zhou ying, and Feng hua, who were also the winners of the 2009 Business Plan Competition shared their experience in building the team, finding the venture capital, setting up the company and realizing the dream. Also, the stories of starting up companies gave students deep impression and inspiration of how to pursue dreams by endeavors.

The ceremony was closed by a great speech by Dr. Zou Deqiang. He gave the students a comprehensive perspective on competition, explained what defines the competitors, the competition from two ends, customer value analysis, the value chain, competition across platforms from which all students benefit a lot.
