Guest Speaker Dr. Daxue Wang

Dr. Daxue Wang, vigorous and talkative, is now working in department of Citigroup Investment Research & Analysis. In today’s course, he mainly concentrated on the topic of moderating growth and high inflation. From the very beginning, he put forward a profound question: Are we heading to hard-landing amid global weakness? In order to crack this question, Dr. Daxue Wang directed us from the following 2 aspects, the global economic outlook and China economic outlook. In the global economic section, three key themes were raised. The first one is the uneven recovery with low pace global-wide, the second one is that slowdown in US, EA & UK raised renewed concerns on “double dip” in AEs and the third one is that Ems remained as a key for global recovery. As for the China economic outlook, 4 key themes were emphasized: No hard-landing expected in the near future, inflation to moderate with growth, policy tightening nearing an end and mid-term outlook: 12th FYP targets are challenging.

After nearly 3 hours of presentation, Dr. Daxue Wang kindly replied several hot economic questions facing the current domestic society. Finally, Dr. Gong Zhan, representative of the School of Management, Fudan University, awarded Dr. Daxue Wang the Light of Wisdom, which actually was a kind of lamp shaped like a book. Dr. Daxue Wang showed great pleasure and willingness to come back to Fudan again to share with the students other up-to-date research outcome and knowledge.
