2015 “Alumni of the Year” Awards Presented Ceremoniously
On the afternoon on November 26, 2016, the grand 2015 “Alumni of the Year” Awards Presentation Ceremony was held. Dean Xiongwen LU, Associate Dean Yimin SUN, 23 “Alumni of the Year” candidates and alumni from various industries got together happily and witnessed the glory of the 2015 Alumni of the Year announced.
The Alumni of the Year selection is one of the School’s grand annual events and an indicator of the School’s spirit of education, intended to commend and publicize the School’s alumni who have accomplished outstanding achievements in the society and made major contributions to the School’s development and carry forward the spirit of the School. From the 2011 selection onwards, the “Annual Excellent Leader Award”, the “Annual Innovation Achievement Award”, the “Annual Social Contribution Award” and the “Annual School Service Award” were set up to commend alumni with outstanding achievements and exemplary significance in various fields from diverse perspectives.
The “Annual Excellent Leader Award” is intended to commend entrepreneurs, economists and professors with leadership. They are like navigators of this era, leading continuous improvement and development in their respective fields with long-term perspectives and accurate judgments. The winner of the 2015 “Annual Excellent Leader Award” is alumnus of the 1978 Undergraduate Industrial Economy Management Program and Deputy Director of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Gang TONG. He entered China’s film industry after his graduation in 1982 and always worked hard in China’s circles in the next more than 30 years. China’s film box office started from 1 billion yuan in 2003, grew at an average rate of more than 30% annually, and reached 44 billion yuan in 2015. China now steadily ranks 2nd among the world’s largest film markets and 3rd in film production. In China’s journey of marching from a big film-producing country to a strong film-producing country, Gang TONG dedicated his wisdom and strength, and made important contributions.

The “Annual Innovation Achievement Award” is intended to commend alumni who are dedicated to innovation. They create brand new value and are always pursuing self-breakthroughs and exploring new states, new paths and new thoughts. The winner of the 2015 “Annual Innovation Achievement Award” is alumnus of the 2006 Fudan EMBA Program, founder and CEO of Shanghai LinkSure Network Technology Co., Ltd. Danian CHEN. He is a pioneer and leader on the road of entrepreneurship and innovation. In 1999, he and his elder brother Tianqiao CHEN jointly founded Shanda Networking to open China’s new online gaming industry; in 2009, he founded Shanda Innovations reputed as the best innovation institution in China, and fostered 27 entrepreneurship companies in it with a total valuation of more than 30 billion RMB; in 2012, LinkSure Network founded by him realized free Internet access through the sharing economy model; in early 2015, LinkSure Network became the fastest growing “unicorn” enterprise in the world, the number of users on the WIFI master key platform established by the company exceeded 900 million, and new users increased faster than WeChat.

The “Annual Social Contribution Award” is presented to those alumni who advocate charity and environmental protection and give strong support to education. Having left their alma mater Fudan University, they long to dedicate themselves to education with the same zeal and concentration. They know the importance of love and responsibility. The winner of the 2015 “Annual Social Contribution Award” is alumnus of the 2007 Fudan EMBA Program and Chairman of Simei Media Co., Ltd. Mingqiu ZHU. Over the years, he never forgot entrepreneurs’ social responsibilities, made donations for poor children to enter school, sponsored sports events, and provided funds to establish classes for cultivation of cultural and creative talents and special scholarships in universities. In 2015, he donated an endowment fund of 100 million RMB to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.

The “Annual School Service Award” is intended to commend alumni who care for the School. They do not pursue illustrious reputation but make their lives fruitful; they do not give special attention to rewards but win people’s respect. The winner of the 2015 “Annual School Service Award” is alumna of the 2007 Fudan EMBA Program and Founding Director-general of the Taipei Neihu Technology Park Development Association Linlin WU. She was the first director and advisor of the Taiwan Alumni Representative Office. Using her own plentiful social resources, she established closer ties for the School and Taiwan’s business circles, spared no effort in publicizing and promoting the School’s brand in Taiwan, and made important contributions for the School to become an influential mainland business school in the Taiwan region. She established a special business center for the Taiwan Alumni Representative Office, warmly received alumni and teachers who came to Taiwan from all over the world, and turned the Taiwan Alumni Representative Office into alumni’s home in Taiwan.
