Ambassador Zhou Jingxing Delivers Commencement Speech

In his speech, Ambassador Zhou Jingxing extended his warmest congratulations to the graduates. He emphasized that the common values of humanity — "peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom" — are more important than ever before, and that implementing the four global initiatives and building a community with a shared future for humanity have never been more urgent.

Ambassador Zhou also put forward four expectations for the graduates. First, be dedicated "Listeners" — always remain open-minded and humble, embrace the diversity of the world, and respect different choices, systems, and paths of development. Second, be courageous "Problem-solvers" — build consensus based on common values, take real actions to break deadlocks, and create both commercial and social value in solving the challenges of our time. Third, be bridge-building "Connectors" — wherever you go, bridge differences, reject binary opposition, and remain firm in your belief in mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. Fourth, be visionary "Accountable Leaders" — integrate your personal development into the tide of global progress, and become warm-hearted, responsible leaders.

Prof. Zhang Fuqiang, Dean and Li Dak Sum Chair Professor of Fudan University School of Management, also delivered an address. He noted that the BI-Fudan MBA Program has spanned three decades. In 1996, Fudan School of Management and BI Norwegian Business School joined hands to launch one of the very first Sino-foreign joint master's programs in China. Over the past three decades, the partnership between the two schools has remained stable and strong. The Program was ranked 21st worldwide in the 2025 Financial Times Global EMBA Ranking with remarkable achievements, and has consistently stood as a model of Sino-Norwegian educational cooperation.

Dean Zhang briefly outlined the future direction of Fudan University School of Management and its three strategic priorities — Artificial Intelligence, Science and Technology Innovation, and Internationalization. He emphasized to the graduates that the leaders needed in the AI era must not only understand technology and management, but also possess human understanding, cross-cultural empathy, sound judgment, and a sense of responsibility for the world we share. He expressed his hope that the graduates would safeguard the friendship between the two schools and promote greater understanding between the two countries. "Wherever your careers take you," he added, "remember the 30-year legacy you carry — one of openness, trust, and shared purpose."
