Fudan-MIT lecture by Professor Jake Cohan was held at FDSM on Nov.20th,2013

On Nov. 20th ,2013 , Professor Jake Cohen, Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate & Master's Programs, gave lecture to 2013 IMBA students at Fudan on the topic “Transforming Southcorp Ltd (A) ”

The students got a clear idea of the value loop, synergy effect and deep incentive for management reaction. Professor Cohen showed the students his excellent logic thinking and mature understanding of what equity research analysts think. Different strategies would lead to totally different results even from the same starting point.

Student Windy said : ”I was deeply impressed with case of transforming Southcorp. It was the first time I could read a series of cases from A-B-C-D-E. The evolution of the true story provides us with the different stages of acquisition process, before, during and after the acquisition. At each stage, we could look into the current situation, analyze the existing problem and forecast the next step. It requires more logic thinking and prediction. The case ended up with a failure after acquisition and Professor Cohen told us that “ Bad acquirers make good targets”. It was really impressive to combine practice with theory. “
