On March 23, 2016, Fulaan team delivered the mid-term report to the company management and faculty mentors from MIT and Fudan. With the sufficient preparation and support from the school, faculty mentors and the client company, the report won the recognition and praise from Fulaan.
The presentation covered four main points: first, it summarized the work had been accomplished and remarked on the project’s target outcome.
Second, it provided a detailed analysis on similar companies both in China and overseas, including online education platforms, online forums and markets. The team discussed the strengths of these companies and lessons can be drawn from them. The case of WEIFENG forum especially gained the attention.
Third, the presentation showed the product catalog, as well as information and the logic behind the selection. The product catalog should help customers to find goods quickly and easily, and guide them to clarify their real needs. Zhuang Bai and Sam gave a detailed explanation on the product catalog based on their experiences in teaching.
Finally, the team proposed future working plan and expressed their concerns on the project. This helps to ensure that working in the following phase is satisfactory to the client, also helps to eliminate the possible problems.
In the next stage, based on the feedback from client company, the team would make further progress.

INTSIG Team
The mid-term review for the Fudan-MIT China Lab INTSIG project was held on Mar. 21st 2016, in the head office of INTSIG with team members from both MIT and Fudan, Li Rongchen, Zach Chen, Hong Sha and Ge Kaiwen. The representatives of INTSIG, Mr. Liu Shaobo and Ms. Kay, faculty mentor Prof. Tzeng Cheng-Hua from Fudan, Prof. David from MIT, and Ms. Guo Jing from MBA office attended the meeting.
The team was engaged in this project for more than two months and worked onsite from last week. In order to better understand the project scope and address some real insights to the client, the preliminary study was divided into two parts: North American market research and Chinese market research. The team first made the mid-term presentation to the client, from the North American market research, Chinese market status quo, major players in China, and customer analysis to illustrate the progress of this project. INTSIG representatives raised several questions to the team members during the presentation, and also discussed actively with two faculty mentors regarding the further research.
In the next stage, INTSIG wants more specific information about the current players’ revenue structure generated by MA/PM, market shares in China, pricing strategy, and the business model that INTSIG would choose, etc. This raises higher requirement for the next phase of work, and all of the team members will make full efforts on it.
