In the end of April, 5 faculty members and 12 students from the Sasin School of Management, Chulalongkorn University, arrived in Shanghai, to work together with Fudan IMBA students on the Mid-term Review of the Thailand-China Lab.

It is the first time that the Thailand-China Lab kicked off since the two schools signed a MoU last September. This year, four companies from Thailand joined the Thailand-China Lab , including AirAsia, PTTOR, Puri and SCG Chemicals.

“We believe the collaboration between both schools will bring values to the Thai companies, and create precious opportunities to the students to gain real insights into Chinese and Thai business and culture. The collaboration could be a model which involves young talents, entrepreneurs and top schools closely,” said Lu Xiongwen, Dean of Fudan University School of Management, at the welcome meeting, “This initiative aims to cultivate academic specialists, business elites and social leaders with global perspectives and local insights. We wish the collaboration on the Thailand-China Lab would set a sound basis for the strategic partnership between Sasin School and Fudan School of Management, create more connections between China and Thailand. I am looking forward to seeing more Thai companies and entrepreneurs to come to China and work with this program.”

“The Thailand-China Lab is an important part of Sasin’s constant efforts to provide our students with opportunities to learn from the real world issues. Using the approch of action-learning, the students from both schools can learn from real cases and practice their skills in each market. It is our hope that the Thailand-China Lab is the first step to enhance the relationship between two schools and we look forward to working with Fudan School of Management in the long term,” said Mr. Paron Israsena Na Ayudhya, Director, Sasin School of Management.

Representatives from Thai AirAsia also arrived at Fudan University School of Management to meet the project team. After the Mid-term Review, Mr. Tang Jian, head of China Regulatory, Thai AirAsia, was satisfied with the students’ research and presentation. He said both the Thai and Chinese students did a great job in terms of their manner and content. He was supervised that none of them was from the aviation background but they had a good understanding of relevant regulations and newly released policies. He said the students’ performance showed that they had really put in a great lot of efforts into the project and he hoped Thai AirAsia would find new ideas for operation through the students’ fresh mind.
