How to Build a World-Class Industrial Leader

Global competitiveness of a regional industry depends to a large extent on whether there are world-class technological innovation leaders in this country/region.

In recent years, advanced manufacturing and emerging industries have been developing rapidly in China, but there is still a long way to go as they account for a small proportion in our national economy. The key links of the value chain in some industries are still dominated by the leading companies in the developed countries.

Professor Rui Mingjie from Fudan University School of Management advises that to build a world-class industrial leader like Huawei, our government needs to:

1. Constantly follow the development of innovative high-tech companies;

2. Support them in making breakthroughs leading to the upgrade of core technologies in the industry;

3. Cultivate entrepreneurs like Ren Zhengfei to helm the high-tech companies to become world-class technological innovation leaders.
