Professor Zhang Cheng from Fudan University School of Management pointed out 4 key aspects in the integration of AI (artificial intelligence) and intelligent manufacturing:
1. Technological infrastructure. AI can only begin to create value when the information processing efficiency and the business process management are essentially improved.
2. AI technologies tailored for manufacturing. The success of intelligent manufacturing requires AI applications totally different from those in the consumer field.
3. Pragmatic implementation. The value of an AI algorithm is determined by the way it’s integrated with the manufacturing and the management.
4. Clear strategies. Excellent AI strategy experts are even more scarce than good technical experts. Deep understanding of both AI and business management, as well as rich experience is indispensable to transform the technologies to actual profits.
