Themed "No Future Without Technological Innovation", the 2021 New Year Forum of Fudan University School of Management focused on the strongest momentum for the industrial development, providing deep insight into the trend of technological innovation as well as the Chinese economy.
Professor Li Ruoshan shared his advice concerning corporate risk management in the context of the current economic ecosystem in China. The government will put more effort into corporate governance in 2021. He reminded the entrepreneurs to stand in awe of the law, the market, and the risk. There is no doubt that enterprises must innovate and take risks; but since our economic ecosystem is not fully developed, enterprises must act prudently and avoid the risks that our society is not able to deal with.
First recipient of a doctorate degree in auditing since the founding of PRC, Professor Li was once the deputy dean of the School of Economics of Xiamen University, the director of the Fudan Institute of Financial Futures, and has served as an independent director for five listed companies.
During the pandemic in 2020, Fudan University School of Management launched a short video series on Bilibili, a leading video sharing website in China. One of Professor Li’s videos received over 500,000 clicks, which then led to the creation of his own column on the platform. He is known for his enthusiasm in interpreting current events from the perspective of accounting and popularizing the knowledge of accounting in so doing.
For example, in a video titled “How do live streaming platforms respond to short selling reports?”, Professor Li talked about performance fraud and the wide use of bot traffic in the live streaming industry. He even gave advice on the risk control of financial enterprises by comparing the case of Baofeng Group with plots of a popular Japanese TV series, Naoki Bansawa.
Though already in his 70s, Professor Li is fond of interacting with netizens in the comment section. He often encourages young people to spare no efforts so as to adapt to this age. He even knows the popular buzzwords of the young generation fairly well, because he cares about young people, genuinely takes time to observe the language they use so as to get a glimpse of what’s in their mind. He believes that a gap in communication would be inevitable, should he fail to understand the way of the youth. He also dives into news websites everyday to keep his thinking and talking up to date.
