Based on its insights into the economic and social development of China and the world, last August, Fudan MBA Program launched ESG as a compulsory course into the “Future Development Module” within the upgraded MBA curriculum system, with the aim of helping more young managers and entrepreneurs become business leaders in the upcoming major transformation of business civilization.
At the end of the first semester, the Fudan MBA students already spoke highly of the ESG course. It allowed them to deepen their understanding on the increasing significance of the ESG principles for business operations, and on how much investors value companies’ ESG performance nowadays, making them feel more prepared for their future career as an executive in organizations. This innovation in the curriculum has also gained international recognition: Fudan MBA Program ranked the 48th in Financial Times’s rankings of the 100 best Global MBA programs for 2023, as well as the first in Asia in its “ESG and zero teaching rank”.
Together with the teaching and research staff in Shanghai, Dr. Bao Yongjian, Professor from the Dhillon School of Business, University of Lethbridge in Canada and Distinguished Professor of the Fudan EMBA Program, and Professor Zheng Qinqin, Deputy Director of Corporate Management Department at the Fudan University School of Management and Visiting Scholar at MIT, are writing a textbook on ESG tailored for the enterprises and business environment in China, which will integrate original theoretical perspectives of the faculty on this issue with the latest corporate practices.
